Who is this qualification for?
This regulated qualification is ideal for anyone wishing to work as a security officer. It is based on relevant SIA specifications for learning and qualifications, and therefore provides the necessary skills and knowledge for learners to apply for an SIA licence in this field. Subjects covered include the roles and responsibilities of security officers, patrolling, security systems, communication, reporting and record-keeping, avoiding conflict and reducing personal risk, defusing conflict, and resolving and learning from conflict.
How long will it take?
4-days (approximately 28-hours of learning) or 3-days if flexible distance learning is undertaken.

The law relevant to the role of a security officer, how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations and good practice to follow after conflict situations.
The qualification comprises 3 mandatory units:

- Unit 2 - Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry
- Unit 3 - Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry
- Unit 1 - 40-question multiple-choice examination
- Unit 2 - 40-question multiple-choice examination
- Unit 3 - 20-question multiple-choice examination
